Hymn to the Korybantes
I.
Hail, Korybantes, children of Apollo's grace,
Guardians of Dionysus, in that sacred space.
Born from Thalia, muse of joyous songs,
In your protective dance, Bacchus belongs.
II.
With rhythmic steps, you shield the infant's form,
Amidst the caves, away from the storm.
With Apollo's light and Thalia's mirth,
You nurture Bacchus, from his second birth.
III.
In harmony with muses and nymphs, you dwell,
In Bacchic rites, your presence swell.
With tambourines and shields, you dance and sing,
Protecting the god, near the sacred spring.
IV.
Oh Korybantes, in your wild embrace,
The mysteries of life and death you face.
In your ecstatic frenzy, the aulos makes its sound,
As Dionysus-Zagreus' essence once more is found.
V.
With Apollo's wisdom and Thalia's cheer,
You guide Dionysus, drawing him near.
In the sacred cave, where mysteries reside,
The Korybantes' dance, with Bacchus at their side.
