I just realised something, I want to share with everyone. I talked to someone in one Psychoanalysis And Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy group I am part of about the story The Little Prince. "The Little Prince" being a novella about a young prince who travels from planet to planet, meeting various inhabitants who reveal the absurdities of adult behaviour. On Earth, he meets an aviator stranded in the Sahara desert. Through their conversations, the aviator learns about the prince’s journey and his encounters with characters like the king, the vain man, the drunkard, the lamplighter, the geographer, and the rose.
The person I talked to there revealed that one German book by one analyst that had analysed the story, and that it is about a childhood drama. Both in a sense tied to loss, and the loss of innocence due to trauma and external expectations by society, but also through the rose tied to the overbearing mother, that turns it into the child trying to take care of others instead of it being the other way around. So the child's emotional needs and reality are not taken into account. And that the snake bite and death symbolises both the death of the inner child, to become an "adult", yet also instead for the child a possible escape into the inner world at the same time. It can go both ways. The analyst had said that the snake bite equals a metaphorical suicide of the Self. Like a disconnection from the Authentic Self. To be an "adult".
In that sense The Little Prince embodies the victim-child archetype in the sense that he often finds himself burdened with responsibilities and expectations that are imposed upon him by others. Throughout his journey, he encounters various characters on different planets, each burdened with their own problems that they project onto him. Symbolically, the Little Prince carries emotional pain and unresolved trauma from his experiences, which is evident in his interactions with the conceited man, the drunkard, the businessman, and others who seem unable to see beyond their own concerns. In his interactions, he confronts the darker aspects of human nature. Such as greed, vanity, and indifference. The Little Prince feels alienated from the adult world due to these preoccupations with mundane matters and inability to appreciate deeper truths and connections.
I personally found a way out of this, that does not lead to the death of the Self and thus the disconnection from one's authentic self. Through the Koryos and Korybantes. As there is no way back to the asteroid, to find the rose (a person like the overbearing mother figure) that would actually do, what the rose can't do, and is always incapable of doing. Which is the same with the Cassandra curse.
Cassandra’s Curse: Ones emotional experiences are not seen or validated by those possessed by the distorted Apollo archetype, leading to frustration and emotional outbursts as ones tries to communicate ones emotional truth.
Which for me also tied into the past 27 years of emotional isolation and near isolation socially. As my Anima and with it emotional experience was never seen by people possessed by the distorted Apollo archetype. This archetype referring thus to any individual's or culture's pattern that is dedicated to, yet bound by, order, law, ethics, reason and intellect, that tends to disavow itself of anything occult or irrational. So the intellectual specialization of this archetype creating emotional distance. Which also links to the cold and vain rose from the story The Little Prince. Which can be seen as a manifestation of the negative Animus within the mother figure. Which links to the negative Mother Complex with her dark wizard Animus that I mentioned in “Importance of the Anima for Men”.
So if this has been one’s childhood, like with The Little Prince, a person’s Anima or general emotional nature is only familiar with a pattern of relationships that lack emotional reciprocity and consequent dysfunctions through this. Being drawn to these distorted Apollo figures, no matter the gender of said individual one is drawn towards. Which we can see with the figures that The Little Prince encounters through his journey.
As this one analyst said: Such an Apollonic person prefers to assess (or judge) the situation or the person from a distance, based on rules, order and ethic, not knowing that they must "get close up"—be vulnerable and empathic—in order to truly know someone else ... But if the Cassandra individual wants a deeper, more personal relationship, then there are difficulties ... they may become increasingly irrational or emotional, to get their emotional truth and reality across.
Jung also for instance discussed the archetype of the Negative Animus or Negative Anima, representing destructive aspects of the unconscious that can exert control over individuals and groups. In the context of figures that embody this archetype, there is a pretence of care that masks underlying power dynamics where they impose their will to maintain control. So that ties into the rejection of the Feminine and with it the current Solar Madness as well. The Kingdom of Kronos. The swallowing of the gods into Kronos. The sacrifice of the inner child, for a kingdom ruled by fragmentation, separation, hyperrationality, devoid of anything subjective, emotional, sentimental, particular. Devoid of what is deeper, meaningful, creates belonging and a true sense of identity beyond mere externalization of our sense of self.
As someone once told me. The titan is tied into stone; ultimately a form of highly toxic solarity. Where the extremity of symbolic sun god worship has only increased over time. Which is brutal; dissociative; slavish. Solar madness being the hyper rational logic centred scientific materialism of western civilization. People do not perceive this as 'madness' because it seems like a 'logical continuation of man's attempt to subdue nature'. But its really a murder occurring at the axis/level of intuitive, living, breathing animal self. The greater masculine unconsciousness, which is just a mess of untethered imbalanced masculine impulses, without direction toward soul level descent.
The real danger is not tied to reality, but more about losing touch with ones humanity. I think that this is the true danger of the abyss. Which like a friend told me is ironically a danger which is posed by some forms of modern hyperrationality which downplay the significance of anything subjective, emotional, sentimental, particular. Which is why building a tribe is so important, to ground us. To find within our own being, emotions and body a true sense of grounding, which is also tied to others in a true genuine emotional manner. That is where the feminine comes in. It keeps the Koryos from going wild (solar madness) and be swallowed by the wolf.
The tribe was ruled by the Goddess. The social order. The mother of Yemo, whose death created said social order. For the ancient people the wilderness was ruled by figures like Wotan or Pan. Though it was on a deeper level of course father sky and mother earth. The former tied to society and the latter to nature. It is like a mirror that balances each other. A yin to the yang. Though modern culture has become hopelessly dualistic. Having lost sight of the sacred interconnectedness of the masculine and feminine in everything. Which is the point of the Koryos and Arkteia. These ancient rites of passage. To like Dionysus-Zagreus be reborn. The Korybantes protecting and nurturing this child. The inner child. Keeping this child safe from the Titans that want to devour it, in their state of solar madness.
In the end what is important about all of this, is for these patterns to come to consciousness, as through awareness of these patterns, and the pathway out, we can avoid the fate of The Little Prince, and find our way back to our authentic Self, freed from the chains of Solar Madness, and with it from it’s rigid norms and the emptiness that comes with it.
For me personally this almost feels like a massive culmination of sorts. Where many past articles and ideas are converging into a singular understanding, that goes even deeper than my initial Kingdom of Kronos understanding. Another deeper layer of understanding what is at play in my life, and with it in the lives of others who also have this lived experience.
I feel blown away reading this. So much to say. So much to explore. You are most certainly synthesizing and integrating many of my own concepts and realizations. Thank you so much for this piece and for coming out of isolation to share it. You are so needed on this planet now, dear one. I truly hope you see and believe that. I look forward to reading more of your work.
